Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of PATE ("the Service"), provided by Britsolar, registered at 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX ("we", "us"). By creating an account you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use PATE. By using the Service you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

2. Acceptable use

• Use PATE only for lawful purposes and in line with these Terms.
• Do not upload content you do not have the right to share, or content that is illegal, abusive, or infringes others' rights.
• Do not attempt to break, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Service or its security.
• Do not use the Service to harass other users or send unsolicited messages.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

3. Free and Premium plans

• Free plan: includes core bill-splitting features and is limited to 3 bills per calendar month.
• Premium plan: removes the bill limit and unlocks features such as the analytics dashboard and PDF export. Pricing is shown in-app at the point of subscription.
• Premium subscriptions are billed monthly or annually via Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled.
• You can cancel at any time from Settings → Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Except where required by law, fees already paid are non-refundable.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the bill photos and data you upload. You grant us a limited licence to store and process this content solely to operate the Service for you (for example, OCR processing, displaying your bills, and sharing them with people you invite).

5. Payment information shown to others

Payment handles you add to your profile (e.g. PayPal email, Revolut/Bizum number, sort code & account number) are shared with people you split bills with so they can pay you. You are responsible for what you choose to share. PATE is not a payment processor and does not move money on your behalf.

6. Service availability

We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Danger Zone. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, abuse the Service, or if we are required to do so by law. On termination your right to use the Service ends immediately.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
